Wood · FRAGRANCE NOTE

Oud

A dark, resinous woody direction that can feel smoky, leathery, warm or quietly sweet depending on the composition.

PROFILEDeep wood · resin · smoke · leather · warmth
CONTEXTThe term is associated with agarwood traditions across South and Southeast Asia and the Middle East; individual perfumes may use natural materials, reconstructed accords or other aroma materials.

In fragrance, oud describes an olfactive direction associated with agarwood and with accords inspired by its deep woody character. The effect can range from dry and smoky to resinous, leathery or softly sweet.

Because oud has many interpretations, the surrounding notes matter. Rose can make it feel plush and floral, amber can warm it, while musk can pull it closer to skin.
