CONTEXTSaffron is a spice derived from Crocus sativus; perfumery may use extracts, aroma materials or accords depending on the fragrance.

Saffron in fragrance is valued less for sweetness than for texture. Its dry, slightly leathery or metallic facets can sharpen amber, florals and woods.

Used with rose, saffron can make the floral feel warmer and more dimensional. With oud or amber, it reinforces a darker, resinous and spiced atmosphere.
